Project Insight

A popular building in the heart of Aberdeen required inspected for public safety. Due to unknown condition of the building and structure client preferred a variety of remote inspection vehicles to perform the inspection externally and internally. Innovair provided a drone and inspection crawler to perform the survey.

Client: Mott MacDonald / Aberdeen City Council

Location: Aberdeen

Deliverable: 3D Point Cloud / Building & Roof Inspection

Duration: 2 Days

  • Unknown Building Condition

  • Debris & Material Present On Floor

  • Birds Present In Building

  • Building Located In Public Park

  • Sensitive Listed Site

  • Complexity of Building

A drone survey was completed to inspect the roof and external profile of the building. As ground control was used, an accurate 3D photogrammetry model was produced, picture opposite. A crawler vehicle circumnavigated the internals to provide visual structural information. Additionally the building was laser scanned externally to produce an accurate visual representative point cloud model which was correlated with the drone survey. The data provided meant the client could make an assessment on building condition ad produce a report.
