Mat Meredith - Engineering Manager
Can you start by describing your position at Innovair?
I’m Mat Meredith, and I’m the Engineering Manager at Innovair. My role includes developing new and innovative solutions in response to challenging inspection requirements, and identifying suitable technologies and techniques for delivering our work scopes.
What's your professional background?
I’m a chartered Mechanical Engineer with experience from the Nuclear and Oil & Gas sectors, in roles ranging from a plant maintenance Engineer to Technical Director. I became interested in how things worked at an early age, and took broken appliances (CD players, video recorders etc) apart to see if I could fix them or work out what had gone wrong. This interest in machines and technology guided me towards a career in Engineering.
What are you most excited for this year at innovair?
We have a couple of challenging development projects planned, it’s going to be a busy year!
What's one thing that you are bad at?
I find it hard to switch off at times, particularly if I’m racking my brains for a solution to deliver a complex scope of work. It’s very satisfying when the light bulb comes on and I sketch out a solution, then relax with a suitable beverage!
What's one thing that you are good at?
My breadth of knowledge and experience allows me to take projects from concept through to a delivered solution.
What do you enjoy doing when not at work?
Walking in the countryside, home improvement projects, Land Rover tinkering (1996 Defender 300 TDI), 3D printing.
