LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEMS INSPECTION

Wind turbine blades and towers rely on effective lightning protection systems to manage strike energy and protect critical components. Over time, receptors, conductors and bonding paths may degrade or fail, creating operational risk and uncertainty around turbine safety and performance.

Innovair provides precise, non intrusive LPS inspection services using advanced drone based continuity testing and high quality visual data capture. These services can be deployed independently or integrated into wider turbine inspection campaigns.

Our capability allows full assessment of receptor condition, verification of continuity from blade tip to ground and clear identification of any faults that require maintenance. Combined with detailed imagery of blades, hubs and towers, this approach delivers reliable evidence of system performance and supports confident maintenance planning.

INSPECTION WORKFLOW

How do we complete wind turbine lightning protection inspections? Our workflow is designed to provide a safe, efficient and repeatable process that delivers clear evidence of LPS performance. Our inspection engineers are qualified drone pilots with extensive experience operating advanced inspection systems across wind assets.

Access, turbine layout, weather conditions and receptor positioning are all important considerations for LPS inspections. From the initial enquiry we identify the correct methodology, select appropriate tooling and integrate continuity testing with detailed visual data capture. Where required, we can adapt our approach or design a tailored inspection plan to match the needs of the site.

During the inspection we collect high frequency continuity measurements on each receptor, paired with supporting imagery of blades, hubs and towers. All data is processed using our digital reporting system, producing traceable records that highlight any faults, risks or areas requiring maintenance. The entire workflow is delivered with a focus on safety and minimal turbine downtime.

At every stage we work closely with you to ensure a complete and reliable assessment of your lightning protection systems.

Pre planning, site safety and documentation

Our inspection team will prepare and submit all required documentation ahead of mobilisation, ensuring a safe and compliant LPS inspection is carried out with minimal turbine downtime.

High quality data collection by qualified pilots

Innovair’s trained inspection engineers will capture accurate lightning continuity measurements and detailed imagery of blades, hubs and towers, providing clear evidence of receptor condition and full lightning path performance.

Fast turnaround on inspection reports

Receive a complete overview of system condition with traceable continuity data, receptor imagery and clear maintenance recommendations, enabling confident decision making and timely planning.
