How do we complete wind turbine lightning protection inspections?
Our workflow is designed to deliver a safe, efficient and repeatable verification of Lightning Protection System performance. Using the SupAirVision Volta drone system, Innovair combines drone deployed electrical continuity testing with detailed visual assessment to provide clear, traceable evidence of system integrity. From initial enquiry, we review turbine model, receptor configuration, connection protocol and site constraints to determine the appropriate inspection methodology.
During inspection, we measure electrical resistance across each lightning receptor and down conductor path on towers while simultaneously capturing supporting imagery of receptors. This ensures quantitative validation of the lightning path alongside visual confirmation of component condition.
All data is processed efficiently, generating structured outputs that identify discontinuities, elevated resistance values or areas requiring maintenance. The entire process is delivered with a focus on safety, minimal turbine downtime and clear engineering interpretation.
Pre-planning, site safety and documentation
Our inspection team prepares all required RAMS and operational documentation prior to mobilisation. Turbine configuration and LPS architecture are reviewed to ensure safe and compliant inspection delivery with minimal disruption to operations.

Depending on turbine type and LPS configuration, we establish the appropriate continuity loop protocol to complete a full electrical path verification. The Volta system is then deployed by drone to measure resistance across each receptor.
